Lorna Parkhouse is a professional musician and qualified teacher based in Shropshire. She studied for her music degree at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, having completed grade 8 piano at the age of 11.
Having gained her music degree, Lorna worked as a very successful self-employed musician based in London, and worked across Europe in a wide variety of roles including, piano concertos in Paris, Rouen and Budapest, Musical Director of the satirical comedy show Newsrevue (residency in London plus touring), piano accompanist for the Association of British Choral Directors working with major choral composers and directors such as John Rutter and Bob Chilcott, and Musical Director of numerous UK based choirs and musical theatre groups over a period of 30 years.
Lorna moved from London to Shropshire in 1999 and quickly completed a Postgraduate teaching qualification to build upon her prior experiences of being Professor of Music at Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and RADA in London. Lorna worked in the teaching profession as a Senior Leader and Head of Music for 21 years and brings a wealth of experience to this role, plus unbridled passion and enthusiasm for choral music of all styles.
Under Lorna’s leadership the choir have expanded the repertoire to encompass a wide range of musical genre and in doing so has increased the membership of the choir considerably.
